Assessment at the secondary level includes a combination of formative and summative approaches:
- Assignments and projects
- Tests and quizzes
- Presentations and discussions
- Classroom participation and demonstrations of learning
Assessment is:
- Based on provincial learning standards
- Ongoing and supportive of student growth
- Used to provide feedback and guide learning
Student progress is shared through report cards and ongoing communication with families via MyEdBC, emails, and meetings.
Students participate in provincial assessments required by the Ministry of Education and Child Care, including: Graduation Numeracy Assessment (Grade 10) & Graduation Literacy Assessments (Grade 10 and 12)
These assessments:
- Are required for graduation
- Measure critical thinking, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Reflect learning across multiple courses and experiences
Students receive appropriate support and accommodations to ensure accessibility.
